Heyward House is a nonprofit organization that helps the children affected by cancer. It was started by the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward in 2015. Heyward has been instrumental in raising funds for several charities in the community, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation, and the Western PA Diaper Bank. Last year, Heyward’s efforts raised $10,097.

Heyward was inspired to help out in Pittsburgh after hearing about the organization’s mission. He reached out to the Wild Things executive team and learned that the team would donate to Heyward House. It was then obvious to him that he needed to become involved. The two organizations had originally planned to host a charity softball game in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced a postponement. The delay allowed newcomers to participate, and the event is still on.
